This is common for soy wax candles and is due to the hot wax cooling at different rates. It’s also a sign that your candle is made from 100% soy wax.

If a soy wax candle isn’t burnt long enough on the first burn, it can create a tunnelling effect due to the entire surface not melting at the same rate. To prevent this, make sure you burn the candle long enough the first time that the entire surface can melt evenly. Read more of it here.
